“Health begins at home.” – Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Environment plays a key role in the creation and maintenance of health. Changes in the environment, such as the quality of the air you breathe, significantly impact the quality of your health, for good or bad.
Of course with the present worldwide threat of COVID-19 your respiratory system especially needs care and attention to stay strong and healthy. Practicing a system of ongoing cleansing of your space, at home and work, can help your immune system stay resilient and more able to resist infectious disease. With just a few simple steps you can boost your immune system’s ability to fight off infections
The development and expansion of sanitation systems is probably the single greatest contributing factor to the lowering of rates of disease transmission globally in the modern age. Sanitation facilities and services for the safe disposal of human waste has advanced human’s quality of health and life extension more than any other advancement in our modern age, including vaccines.
Sanitation facilities provide the means for good hygiene and for people to perform basic hygienic practices that help us maintain health and increase our human life-spans.
Simply by focusing on a few, simple good personal hygienic practices you contribute to the overall maintenance of your health, as well as recovery of your health when succumbing to pathogenic disease.
Importantly, improved sanitation also helps keep your home and work environments clean and healthy. The health of our global environmental community also depends upon some type of sanitation to keep it free of toxins. This is why the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was created, to keep our shared environment clean.
However, clean drinking water and good sanitation do not prevent the spread of infections without practicing good hygiene. The simple habit of washing hands goes a long way towards preventing the spread diseases.
Creating a healthy personal environment in which to live and work, you can greatly increase your chances of maintaining and even regaining your health.
Personal environments include social and economic factors, the physical location, and genetics, which influence your overall susceptibility, tolerances, and behaviors relating to your body. Social distancing and mask wearing are two examples of personal environmental practices you can choose to make that will help keep you and others safe.
