Treat Your Skin Gently
Good skin care (gentle cleansing, proper hydration and nourishment, as well as sun protection) can help keep your skin healthy and glowing at any age.
You don't need to spend excessive amounts of time or money on expensive and intensive skin care therapy to enjoy all the natural anti-aging benefits of good skin care. Pampering yourself with just a few simple skin care basics, along with a healthy lifestyle routine can also help prevent or even eliminate skin problems.
I have to admit that I never once saw anyone in my family of origin perform any skin care routine. Never once do I recall seeing any hygienic routines for skin care even from my mom who was a licensed cosmetologist. My mom was really into the idea of beauty. She was always buying the latest skin lotions and creams and make-up, but cleansing did not seem to be a part of her beauty care system.
It wasn’t until I reached the age of thirty that it suddenly dawned on me that a regular facial cleansing ritual might be a good idea. At this same time I started hydrating with ample amounts of pure fresh water. It was well before the bottled drinking craze that came along several years later.
As with all of my health routines and habits my skin care treatment program has evolved over time. Periodically I’ll change things up a bit, but essentially the skin care routine I'll share with you is the basic of skin care and beauty treatment program I've followed since starting at age 30.
By the way I seldom use any body lotions or oils on my skin. I used to, but not anymore. My diet has ample quality oils, like olive oil, that nourish my skin from the inside out and I hydrate with sufficient amounts of pure, fresh water daily to help my skin stay moist and supple. As I’ve always had a tendency to oily skin, my genetics may also play some small factor in the radiant health of my skin.
In this series of blogs I will share a variety of essential oil recipes for all skin types that you can try to promote natural radiant health for your skin. No matter what type skin you have, or condition you might be faced with i.e. oily, sensitive, dry, problems like acne breakouts, sunburn, signs of aging like lines and wrinkles, you'll learn how to balance it out with my simple skin care routine.

Healing and rejuvenation for your skin cell tissues with essential oil.
After Shower Body Therapy
Regular exfoliation, removal of old, dead skin cell tissue, is absolutely paramount for your skin's continued long term health. It helps your skin keep a youthful appearance even as you age.
Use this simple method of gentle full body exfoliation after your shower. Here’s what you will need and an all-purpose essential oil you can use.
Preparation – what you will need:
- Small ceramic bowl
- 1-3 Tablespoons of your favorite carrier oil, i.e. jojoba, fractionated coconut oil, rose hip
- 1-3 drops of essential oil - wild crafted or organic if available. Rose Geranium (Pelargonium Roseum) is a good choice of oil to use as it is regulating and balancing for ALL Skin Types.
- Cotton wash cloth - for applying scented body oil and gently exfoliating your skin
- Sterilized instrument such as a stainless steel teaspoon
Stand in the shower, start at your feet and gently stroke your skin in sweeping motions, working your way upward to your torso. Then, start at your finger tips and gently stroke upwards to your chest and neck. End your exfoliating body therapy with a warm shower, rinsing thoroughly. Be sure to hydrate with pure fresh water after your shower.
