Saturn: The Lord of Karma
In astrology, Saturn is often called the Lord of Karma because he represents the principle of cause and effect—the understanding that your choices, actions, and patterns have consequences. Saturn brings you face-to-face with the lessons you are here to learn, asking you to take responsibility, mature, and build a stronger foundation for your life.
Rather than viewing karma as punishment, Saturn teaches you to see it as an opportunity for growth and conscious transformation. Saturn's transits can reveal where you have carried old patterns, unresolved responsibilities, fears, or limitations that are ready to be addressed and released.
Saturn's lessons may not always feel easy, but they can ultimately be liberating. When you accept responsibility for what is yours to change, you begin to transform karmic patterns into wisdom, strength, and greater self-mastery.
Saturn takes approximately 29 years to complete one cycle around the zodiac wheel and spends approximately 2 1/2 years in each of the 12 houses of the zodiac. Currently Saturn is in Aries.
The South Node: Your Karmic Inheritance
In astrology, the South Node represents both your inheritance of natural gifts and the ancestral karmic patterns you have inherited in this incarnation. Your South Node reflects soul development accrued over many lifetimes—the abilities, wisdom, and qualities that have become familiar and instinctive.
But the South Node can also reveal karmic burdens: inherited patterns of behavior, beliefs, and conditioning that come through your family lineage and become part of your experience in this life.
The soul itself does not carry karma. Before incarnating, the soul has completed and cleansed the residue of previous incarnations. Yet when the soul chooses to incarnate into physical life, it takes on a karmic inheritance necessary for that incarnation. Much of this comes through your family lineage, where ancestral patterns can become woven into your life as patterns of behavior, beliefs, and conditioning that may undermine your progress or keep you repeating experiences that do not serve your soul’s journey.
The Nodal Return and Reverse Nodal Return occur approximately every 9 years, together making up the complete 18-year nodal cycle. These turning points offer powerful opportunities to clear karmic patterns represented by the South Node and move more consciously toward the evolutionary path of the North Node.
The 12th House, traditionally ruled by Pisces, is another area of your zodiac chart where your karmic inheritance can show up clearly. It is associated with what lies beneath conscious awareness—patterns, experiences, and influences carried from the past that may remain hidden until they are ready to be brought into consciousness, understood, and released.
The Eighth House: Your Karmic Chores
The 8th House, ruled by Scorpio and its modern ruler Pluto, with Mars as its traditional ruler, is one of the most mysterious and transformative areas of your zodiac chart. Much of what resides here is hidden beneath the surface, including unconscious patterns, deep emotional material, and experiences that may be difficult to see or understand until you are ready to bring them into the light.
Because the 8th House governs transformation, regeneration, shared resources, intimacy, death and rebirth, it is especially ripe for doing deep transformative work in this life. Any planets in your 8th House, along with the transits and aspects they receive, can reveal your karmic chores—the areas where you are being asked to transform, release, and reclaim your power during this incarnation.
The Karmic Wheels of Fate Are Turning
These are the houses and planets that can point you most directly to your karmic burdens.
You are currently entering a powerful period of clearing many of the karmic burdens you have inherited—not only as an individual, but on a mass global level.
I'll give you a brief overview of the setup, along with an explanation of the cast of zodiac players being activated to help you release these karmic burdens.
Venus stations Retrograde at 8°29' Scorpio, the sign associated with the 8th House, on October 3. Venus is followed by Mercury, the psychopomp who carries messages between the conscious and unconscious mind on October 13th. On this same day, the Moon representing the emotional mind, is conjunct Saturn, the Lord of Karma.
The Sun has also just moved into Scorpio. Together, these alignments suggest a tremendous illumination of dark and hidden material, bringing what has been buried into consciousness so that it can finally be seen, understood, and transformed.
We have been in a slow simmer of karmic release since Venus entered her shadow (August 30) shortly after the Pisces Lunar Eclipse on August 27. Now the process is intensifying.
At this time, most of the planets are retrograde, turning your attention inward and asking you to review, reassess, and release what no longer belongs in the future you are creating.
Pluto, the lord of karmic shadows, has stationed Direct conjunct Juno, representing deep and transformative commitments, in Aquarius. Pluto has also recently completed its final passage out of Capricorn, the sign ruled by Saturn, the Lord of Karma.
Many of the karmic players are all here. There are other aspects involved that I haven't mentioned, but including them all would make this reading far too long. These are the key players I want you to watch.
Soon after Venus stations Retrograde at 8°29' Scorpio, she forms an exact square to Pluto and Juno. Squares are points of resistance that can force change upon us. If you have resisted releasing something because of fear of the unknown, you may now find yourself being pushed to make adjustments that ultimately free you from old karmic burdens.
Mercury Retrograde will also square Pluto and Juno, with the aspect reaching a peak as Mercury stations Direct on November 13—the same day Venus stations Direct at 22°52' Libra.
This could mark a significant moment of karmic justice, revelation, or completion, potentially bringing an announcement or development with global implications. Something hidden may be revealed, allowing a long-standing karmic cycle to reach a point of resolution.
And this is only the beginning. There is much more to come.
The year closes with the karmic wheels still turning, as Mars—the God of War, energy, action, and desire, and ruler of Aries—stations Retrograde at 10°26' Virgo on January 10, 2027, beginning a retrograde period that lasts almost three months, through March 31.
When Mars stations Direct, he will be conjunct the South Node, Jupiter, which expands whatever it touches, and trine Saturn, the Lord of Karma, in Aries, a sign ruled by Mars. These powerful configurations can mark significant turning points, both personally and collectively, and could correspond with dramatic developments in world history.
Saturn stationed Direct in Aries on December 10, 2026 which speaks to new foundations coming into form. Old structures can no longer support what we are becoming, and something new must emerge.
As I see it, we are being brought into alignment by a higher, unseen hand that is forcing us to change worldwide. The question is not whether change is coming. The question is how we respond to it.
